Volkswagen introduces the innovative ID.7, the company's first all-electric vehicle aimed at the upper mid-size global market. With its blend of a 700 kilometre range, advanced drivetrain, roomy cabin, and top-tier technology, the ID.7 makes long-distance trips a breeze and establishes a fresh category within the ID. lineup. The model, which is almost five metres in length, also boasts a user-centric interface and a sophisticated aesthetic. The release of the ID.7 is set to take place in Canada in 2024. ID.7 Design
Styling-wise, the ID.7 adheres to the aesthetic principles of the ID. series. The car's defining elements include its aerodynamically optimized front section and roofline, both of which contribute to energy efficiency and expanded driving range. Air intakes positioned at the vehicle's front direct air along the sides and towards the back of the car, effectively creating an 'air curtain' that stabilizes airflow. The rear-sloping roofline also bolsters the ID.7's impressively low drag coefficient. This design supports a range of up to approximately 700 kilometers.
As with all vehicles in the ID. lineup, the ID.7 is built on Volkswagen Group's MEB platform. The modular structure's merits include short overhangs and a long wheelbase (2.97 meters), which greatly benefits the interior space. Consequently, the ID.7 exudes the character of a luxury sedan with an exceptionally roomy ambiance.

ID.7 Performance
The all new ID.7 is a class leader when it comes to balancing performance and efficiency. The new electric motor has been primarily enhanced to optimize energy usage and depending on the battery capacity, it is projected that the vehicle can achieve WLTP ranges of as much as 700 kilometers and have charging capabilities of nearly 200 kW. Therefore, the ID.7 accentuates its aptitude for long-distance driving, catering to regular commuters and commercial fleet clients.
The ID.7 will also see a release of the high performance GTX variant with a dual motor all wheel drive system and a sportier design.

ID.7 Safety
The ID.7 will lead the pack with its class leading safety assist and travel assist features. The ID.7 features a Travel Assist system that can assume lateral and longitudinal control of the vehicle as required, leveraging swarm data*. This functionality was developed in collaboration with CARIAD, Volkswagen Group's software subsidiary. If needed, the ID.7 can utilize Travel Assist to facilitate assisted lane changes on multi-lane highways at speeds exceeding 90 km/h. While the driver oversees this process, it significantly reduces the burden of driving.
When parking, the ID.7 can independently execute assisted maneuvers in various ways. One such feature is memory function parking for up to 50 metres. For this, the driver can either stay seated inside the ID.7 or oversee the parking process from outside the vehicle through a smartphone app.
